Dooms-dayers
His wrinkles decorated his body like old wallpaper loosing its grip. Sagging
here and there with faded area’s. His eyes showed years of experience, eyes that
had seen more than he cared to remember. Generations of deterioration in human
minds and morals. Still he stood on the street corner with a tattered Bible in
his hands.
His voice cracked as he read aloud the scriptures of what was to come. The end
of this worn out world and it’s in inhabitants. Destroyed by the need to become
God and willing to ignore the truth.
“Just another day in paradise!” teased a passerby. Laughing as he displayed a vulgar hand sign at the preacher. A tear crept past the corner of the preachers eye. His heart ached as he watched another lost soul rushing to destruction. The passage in the Bible where Jesus said, “He could do no miracles in his own town.” Jesus knew that all the people saw was a carpenters son. They refused to believe in him because he grew up around them. Twenty years of sitting on this same corner, seeing the same faces and seeing no change in the people hurt deeply. People without patience or trust, doubting that it would ever happen.
Bibles
collected dust on a shelf, how will they learn to see the truth without opening
it? How will they know the prophecies if no one spoke of them in their
homes or churches. Why is preachers feeding them feel good sermons when time
was running out?
The day faded into night. Clutching his Bible to his chest, the preacher headed
home. Another day and only a couple of strangers willing to talk with him.
Perhaps they would become curious about the state of humanity and eternity.
Perhaps they would explore the Bible and perhaps a single soul might be saved.
Have we become so arrogant, so prideful, and so deceived that we are blind? Yes,
generations past thought that Jesus would return in their lifetime and it
didn't. Does that mean it won't happen in our lifetime? No, there has to be a
generation to see it. What makes us so special that Jesus wouldn't dare come in
this generation? Are there still so many lost souls that he can't bear seeing
them die without salvation? Has he put his plan on hold just for us? His timing
isn't man's. Prophets in the Bible spoke of signs prior to his return. They are
being shown, but you won't know them if you don't look for them. We are not
exceptional, we just think we know enough, we do, enough to be dangerous to
ourselves.
Jesus doesn’t want anyone to go to hell but, he has no control over this. The
freedom to choose is yours. God decides when the end comes, Jesus doesn’t know
that time, only his father knows!
I’d rather be made fun of for believing what I see happening around me than to
stick my head in the sand. A true man or woman of God can see this simply by
watching what leaps and bounds the world is taking. The boom of new technology
is at the point it can’t be reversed. It has to happen in order for prophecy to
be fulfilled. Prayer can’t stop it, man can’t stop it, it has to be! Your only
chance comes by choosing to follow Jesus.
